That way, throughout the entire process, I have the ability to optimize every little bit of code, and I know the code better because I made it and not a program. Every time I try to slice, it ends up terrible compared to my hand-coding. I also found that it has taught me what I can do in design and what just won't work practically. Perhaps less money/time gets you less bells and whistles, but it shouldn't affect the quality of the product. There's no point selling something that doesn't work properly.
