Today’s bridges not only symbolize our world’s advancement in design but its advancement in technology as well.

Consequently, architects and engineers have been able to merge design and technology together in order to create bridges that are bigger, better, and more spectacular than ever before.

Several of these are simply stunning – a true marvel of classic engineering capabilities and the outstanding achievements of modern engineering.

Cool list but it should include the Roebling Bridge that goes between Cincinnati and Covington, KY. It was actually one of the prototypes for the Brooklyn Bridge.4

The bridge “Fehmarn Belt Bridge (Hamburg, Germany to Copenhagen, Denmark)” will never be built, there is aprox 290 km in straight. pretty long bridge.

There is a possibility that it would be build sometime in the future from Rodby (denmark) to Fehmarn (Germany) 18 km’s.

It’s going to be built (Rambøll, COWI etc. are all working on it) and will be ready sometime in 2018 (together with the metro city ring in Copenhagen)

Still it’s very misleading to put a render made by (probably for) the Danish government – no architects have won the competition to draw the giant project. Instead you could have chosen some other fantastic Danish bridges:

So glad to see Confederation Bridge in this list; it connect New Brunswick to Prince Edward Island, and is the world’s longest bridge over ice-covered water. In the middle depending on weather, you can’t see land in either direction, you’re literally driving over the open ocean. So cool.

nice photos, but to me there is one which should have been in. It’s Newton’s math bridge as initially there wasn’t any nail for the bridge and it stood on this own weight. it was a genius work but people who want to study it knock it down and wanted to resemble but failed to establish. Therefore now it’s still there but with a large number of nails.

I really like St John’s Bridge in Portland, OR, USA.
It has a really gothic feeling and it feels old & rickety so it’s kinda scary, lol.

WOW! Those pictures are amazing! I’ve seen only two of those bridges in real life and while I thought they were incredible they don’t hold a candle to most of the European bridges you show cased. Hmmm….I need to take a trip to Europe! Thanks for sharing!
