    We all know texture is used a lot in both modern and vintage design, although in many cases of design produced many years ago, noisy and grungy textures were unavoidable.

    When it comes to wooden texture in design, though, whether in a print product, a web or mobile user interface element, or general layout, it is always used to enhance visual appeal.

    In this article, we will look at five common elements in UI design that use wood textures to do just this.

    Textures can add visual interest to an otherwise-minimalist design, or can add that extra bit of detail that really makes a design pop.

    Paper textures are by far the most common, but other regularly-seen textures include stone, concrete, rust, and fabric. And they’re not just used for backgrounds, either. Some sites incorporate textures into every aspect of their design, while others just use them for accents.

    If you ever heard the phrase ‘you can find inspiration everywhere you look’, then this article is for you. Today we look at rusted metal textures as both an unusual source of inspiration as well as an option for unique backgrounds.

    Textured backgrounds are a great way to add an extra dimension to any graphic design project. Magazines and printed media can resort to textured paper for added impact however, this is impossible to do on the web, and the closest we can do is adding texture to simulate this effect.
