A Day in the life of a graphic designer

A Day in the Life of a Graphic Designer is a humorous look at the trials and tribulations designers go through on a daily basis. Everything from lack of sleep to dealing with clients and account managers is covered. The retro design of the infographic is a welcome respite from the often too-shiny and too-polished world of information visualizations.

A cleaner look for Windows 8

Windows 8 has a new logo, and it's cleaner and much simpler than previous iterations of Windows logos. It incorporates parts of the new Metro design, while still maintaining the basic window shape. The design agency Pentagram worked on the logo, making it look more like a window and less like a flag than most of the earlier designs. It's even been hinted that the logo color may change with the theme color in the OS.

Interactive Starry Night animation

A beautiful interactive animation of the famous Van Gogh's Starry Night, using roughly 80,000 particles that move with a fluid-like algorithm and are drawn as small opengl minimaps. The touch interface allows the viewer to deform the image, altering the flow of the particles and the synthesized sound, which was created using a MIDI interface. It's an incredibly impressive experimental app.
