A style manual from Andy Taylor

Style Manual is a reference document compiled by Andy Taylor, a UX designer from Melbourne. It includes guidelines for punctuation, abbreviations, title capitalization rules, HTML, commonly misused words, and more. The spelling is always based on British English, but the punctuation is pulled from both American and British English, based on the most common sense rules.

Responsive images with jQuery

Responsive Img is a jQuery plugin that swaps out an image's src attributed based on the width of the container it's in, both when the DOM is ready and when the browser is resized. It uses a PHP file to create new images on the fly the first time they're needed, which are then saved for later use. There's no extra HTML or CSS markup required, making it great for existing sites.

Fantastic minimalist chocolatier design

Nucoco's website is a fantastic example of how a minimalist site can provide a big impact, even for something that traditionally has a much more "decorative" website design (like a chocolate company). The most interesting part of the site, though, is the way the logo is built as you scroll down, with pieces flying in from the top and left.

A history of the Hollywood sign

The Hollywood sign is probably one of the most iconic sights in California, if not the world. A history of the Hollywood sign details the complete history of the sign, from its temporary origins as a lit-up "Hollywoodland" sign in the early 1920s to the restoration efforts in the 1970s, financed by none other than Hugh Hefner, among others. The whole story is fascinating.
