Amazing list of amazing cards. I’ve seen many of them on lists before, but there were also a good amount of new cards. Just goes to show how important original and creative ideas get rewarded!

Where is a good place to get the clear plastic business cards? I’ve always been intrigued, but never pursued.

Very cool! Those are a great inspiration. Although, a hard business card may get annoying if people want to carry them in their wallet. I would prefer a more flexible card.

some of them are okay but most are a bit wacky aren’t they – the traditional rectangle shape for a business card is optimum otherwise people just lose them too easily

Many of those cards are fantastic examples of graphic design but may be impractical as actual business cards.

In my experience, clients want business card to have two main attributes, besides contact information of course:

1. The ability to fit in a wallet

2. Space on the back to write on

A lot of these examples would not fit in a wallet (at least, not without significant mangling) and cannot be written on (the plastic ones especially).

That said, they are beautiful little pieces of art and their creators should be commended for their great level of creativity.

You also repeat the Davide Gasperini card, although I have no idea which numbers they are.

Fantastic list! Not all are practical, and some would be incredibly difficult to put in a wallet or Rolodex, but they’re all fun.

Interesting. Fun. Artsy. Waste of money? Adds to overhead, thus increasing costs to clients?

I think an unusually shaped biz card is more likely to get thrown out because they can’t be scanned electronically via standard equipment, they don’t fit in the wallet, or portfolio. Some of them looked like they weren’t environmentally friendly, either.

Still fun to look at though…

I used to collect business cards when I was a kid (and I still have my collection). I have a few that I thought we re really cool – wood, metal, etc. but these put my prized ones to shame. I am also in the candy industry now and have a bunch of cool cards from that industry – Maybe I should take pics and post them

Divorce lawyer’s card is my favorite.

I thoroughly enjoyed this collection. They are extremely creative business cards. I think that if your company has the extra budget to afford the creativity in marketing, it will definitely pay off in the end. Cards such as these can really leave lasting memories on consumers. Same as a great logo!

Even though you might not be the greatest of graphic designers but business cards like these will definitely get the customers into believing that you are a kick-ass designer.

These business card ideas are unbeatable. the only issue I see that the production cost of such cards will be over whelming. An ordinary design firm will always find it tough to sustain the cost of such cards when produced on large scale.

Always love seeing posts like this. It’s yet another reminder that people don’t have to settle for the plain old boring card stock “card” that’s not likely going to see the light of day after being given out. You need to capture your prospects attention immediately, and hope to keep it.

There is a man called John Cassidy who is a Balloon Artist/Comedian/Magician who has a business card where it is a little piece of something that is rolled up and there is a rubber band holding it from unraveling, But, when it does unravel it creates a magic wand with his information on it. It’s quite good.

Very nice work. I choose the “Divorce Lawer” as the best, very clever and yet simple and clean, gets the message sent and easy to carry.

While traditional business cards as we know them are becoming defunct in favor of electronic storage mediums; handy novelty cards, which you can somehow keep on your desk without looking like a dork, might be the only future this archaic scrap of paper dating from the Mezozoic era has!

Many of these are not that creative

I found ours in the UK online from a company called Plasma Designs. (http://www.plasmadesign.co.uk/) The are nice and thick, people tend to keep these. I have purchased through cheaper options as well, but they are either too clear (and too easily scratched) or too frosted (hard to read) and flimsy. I have had great luck with P D’s.

the client isn’t always right. that’s why thy hired you. try educating them as to the purpose of a business card rather then just giving them what they “think” they need.

So cool! The marriage counselor one with the tape was good. I also enjoyed the landscaping businesses that were large plants or contained seeds. I really think that a creative business card will leave a more lasting impression than just a regular style of one.

I realize that just because something has been done for a long time that, that in and of itself is not a reason to merit whether or not it would be included in your presentation but…
I just wanted to point out that ALL of the metal business cards ( both stamped & etched – yes etched none of the metal ones were laser cut ) are NOT the result of the creative mind of their namesake. Period. But that of their manufacturer.
As a custom fabricator that has worked almost the entire globe in his day I can tell you that these are just a case of everything old is new again.
I’ve know vendors as far back as ’78 who issued these razor thin stainless steel & perfectly etched cards to their sales force. Including the galvanized stamped ones as well – depending upon the manufactures specialty. The last time I saw an etched card was the early ’90′s. A company doing etching out of El Monte, CA called Vacco ( a sub of Esco ) was also issuing them to their sales people.
Not raining on anyone’s parade here ( or as you would say ‘hating’ ) just pointing out that the majority displayed are representing Creatives. And do you want to hire someone who saw this one day and said “cool everyone will be so impressed” I’ll just copy it. Or do you NEED someone that is about to represent you to be a bit more original. Details count.

Again I am really jealous! I wish our company would make us such neat business cards. Perhaps I should just make myself one for fun… some of them look handmade actually and I’m sure I can come up of something good!

What good is a funny tricky business card? Clients you get with goofy cards are funny tricky and seldom have big budgets. Think fortune 500 and make your cards look like that is my advice.

Wow, what an incredible list. The divorce lawyer card is absolutely hysterical. I had a really creative set of business cards done recently in Sydney, by DPM Creative Group http://dpm.net.au/ . They are a bunch of incredibly talented graphic designers who made my business cards appear to have a sleek metallic finish.

Cutting Edge: Great for playing a prank on someone too.
Divorce Lawyer: Smart, practical, with a dash of humor.
Asthma Allergy Centre: Definitely an attention grabber.
Howl Fire: I wonder if they burn every name card or is it a die-cut.
Meatcards: It’ll never survive in a dog eat dog world.
Ramesh Sharma: The complete opposite of the Divorce Lawyer name card.
Intersection: A very old school vintage feel.

That’s what I call creative business cards They really have all shapes, sizes and different materials. Really liked the first one for the photographer, nice idea and I also liked the one that was Google style … it is original, although it’s not very eyecatching, design-wise I mean.

The stretchy personal trainer card is very clever, but I’d like to see someone try to punch the number into their phone whilst having to pull it apart!

Second favourite,the 3D Bryce Bell Mechanical Designer’s card & third, the perforated card for the Divorce Laywer – classic!

These are really great business cards. Although I’ve already seen some of them, the others are really great too. The Lodge’s metal business card looks great!
