If you’re not up-to-date on all the latest WordPress news, you may be unfamiliar with WordPress Playground. This helpful tool allows you to run WordPress straight from your web browser, eliminating the need to set up a server.

WordPress Playground Lets You Create and Run WordPress Entirely from a Browser.

To make this feat of technology possible, Adam Zielinski and his team from Automattic created a WebAssembly-based WordPress runtime. This enables a WordPress server to generate automatically whenever a page is loaded. The MySQL database commonly used on WordPress sites is replaced with a file-based SQLite database that transfers browser inputs into WordPress actions.

WordPress Playground isn’t just for show. It’s a great way for web developers to experiment with new ideas, showcase designs to clients, and test their code across different WordPress versions. There’s no need to experiment on a live WordPress site or spend time setting up a staging site to try out new things. Users just need to load the site and wait for their new WordPress site to generate. The whole process takes seconds.

WordPress Playground is aptly named. It’s a playground for new ideas, and we predict it will become increasingly popular as designers find new ways to boost their efficiency with the tool. In short, it’s a brilliant and much-needed addition to the WordPress community. You can try the tool today on playground.wordpress.net.
